Arts Build Community

Nashville's largest community art project, Arts Build Community, brings together leaders of Nashville's arts and business organizations to capture the power of creativity.

In the ABC's first Arts Build Community event, on August 27, 2009, over 150 individuals joined Mayor Karl Dean, renowned artist Myles Maillie and creativity expert Whitney Ferre at the Sommet Center Visitor's Center. Donning painting ponchos and creativity, everyone participated in the "stack box" painting project where they applied paint and color to large cardboard boxes. After all the boxes were given their finishing touches by their individual artists, they were assembled together to build an 18' x 40' sculpture, which stretched throughout the course of the Sommet.

Visit the Sommet Center where a photograph of the finished art piece will be preserved on a billboard for the next year!
